– Will Smith plays a con-man who takes a young woman as an apprentice before starting to fall for her, which puts him off his game. Fast-forward a few years and they both are going after the same mark and run into problems. This is supposed to be a crime-comedy but nothing I’ve seen in the trailers for this makes it look funny.
– Stars Will Smith, Margot Robbie, and Rodrigo Santoro. Directed by Glenn Ficarra & John Requa. Rated R.
The Lazarus Effect
– After a name change and a few date changes (though all within a month of the original date) The Lazarus Effect finally is being released. A team of scientists have developed a drug that brings things back to life in unsanctioned experiments. After proving the serum works on animals, a lab accident kills one of the scientists so they use the drug to bring her back. As you can guess things don’t go very well. Basically this is your regular mad scientist/horror tropes in action. If that’s your thing, go for it. Otherwise, STOP BEING STUPID IN HORROR MOVIES!
– Stars Mark Duplass, Olivia Wilde, Donald Glover, Evan Peters, and Sarah Bolger. Directed by David Gelb. Rated PG-13.
