– American Assassin is based off the 2010 book of the same name and is part of a long running book series, and though American Assassin comes much later in publishing order, it is the first book in chronological order and the film is intended to be the first in a potential long running franchise. Though he’s been back in the final season of Teen Wolf, this is one of the first movies that Dylan O’Brien has done since he was in his filming accident. Mitch Rapp, after losing his girlfriend to a terrorist attack, is recruited into CIA Black Ops. After his training, he is sent with his trainer to track down the cause of random terrorist attacks, leading them to find a Turkish agent and a former operative that want to start a World War in the Middle East.
– Stars Dylan O’Brien, Michael Keaton, Sanaa Lathan, Shiva Negar, Taylor Kitsch, David Suchet, Navid Negahban, Scott Adkins, and Charlotte Vega. Directed by Michael Cuesta. Rated R.
– Mother! or “mother!” is the latest film by Darren Aronofsky and appears to be just as weird as all his other films. Though most of the trailers play it off as a psychological thriller/horror film, the movie is actually a strange allegory to the bible with Jennifer Lawrence as Mother Earth (spoilers but it sounds confusing as hell). A poet and his wife have a house in the country and are finally left alone when mysterious strangers show up and start to take over.
– Stars Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris, Michelle Pfeiffer, Domhnall Gleeson, Brian Gleeson, Kristen Wiig, Jovan Adepo, and Stephen McHattie. Directed by Darren Aronofsky. Rated R.
