The LEGO Ninjago Movie Poster

The LEGO Ninjago Movie

– We’ve loved the previous LEGO movies, though The LEGO Ninjago is a little bit of an odd duck. Ninjago itself has been a line of ninja themed LEGOS and has long included a TV series since 2011, that has told the somewhat complex story of the Ninjago ninja. Instead of either being a continuation of that series or having a retelling of it, the LEGO Ninjago movie, the Ninjas have to defeat Lord Garmadon and father of Lloyd Garmadon (previously the youngest of the ninja in the series). The difference between the movie version of Ninjago and the TV series, is that the movie is completely self aware and much more of a satire than the TV series is.

– Stars Jackie Chan, Justin Theroux, Dave Franco, Olivia Munn, and Michael Pena. Directed by Charlie Bean, Paul Fisher, and Bob Logan. Rated PG.

Friend Request Movie Poster

Friend Request

– The funny thing about Friend Request is that it’s from Germany where it is originally known as Unfriend and changed the name for it’s USA release to avoid confusion with Unfriended but was originally released in Germany over a year ago in January 2016 and is finally coming to the United States over a year and a half later. Friend Request is the latest attempt at a horror movie dealing with social media. A popular college girl named Laura is active on social media and becomes friends with a strange girl who has no friends. Eventually the girl commits suicide and through supernatural means, has it posted on her Facebook profile. Then as her friend count goes down, the strange girl’s spirit starts to kill off the friend of Laura’s online friends.

– Stars Alycia Debnam-Carey, William Moseley, Connor Paolo, Brit Morgan, Brooke Markham, Sean Marquette, and Liesl Ahlers. Directed by Simon Verhoeven. Rated R.
