Krista’s Korner – Comic Con 2016 Highlights

Comic Con is the largest convergence of nerdom, it’s just sad how it’s harder to get in year after year. I really hope we get to go some day. But then again, it’s so crowded, it’s difficult to do much unless you hang out in one specific hallway the entire time. Line after line. Several studios bowed out this year, so news is fairly lacking. Lots of trailers and footage shared. Lots of fun panels missed.

Below are some highlights, as well as some notable trailers. I’m actually excited about 90% of these things.

Movie News

  • Kurt Russell was revealed to play Ego aka Star Lord’s father in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. Chris Sullivan to play Taserface. Sylvester Stallone is also cast, but his role has not yet been revealed.  Speaking of Guardians, Disneyland is underway with changes to The Tower of Terror and converting it to a Guardians theme. Due completion next year after the film.
  • Brie Larson is officially confirmed as Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel. There were rumors previously, Larson herself seemingly surprised, and now she is. She will debut in Avengers Infinity War in 2018. Her movie isn’t out until 2019.
  • Danai Gurira has been cast as Okoye, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, and Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger in the Black Panther movie which will be out in February of 2018.

  • The Star Trek TV series that has been in the works will be called Star Trek Discovery.
  • Justice League Action, the newest DC animated to appear on Cartoon Network should air this fall. Style still looks like Brave and the Bold and it makes me angry it was cancelled, why not just keep it around and aslfhsakgjisafkd
