My Geek Confessions #128 – 10/24/2014

Cover Art for My Geek Confessions

Welcome to our episode for October 24, 2014!

It’s a big week as the Avengers: Age of Ultron teaser trailer leaked and changed everything. We review Book of Life, then we discuss lots of nerdy movie news, Archie getting a TV show, and FOX and NBC doing questionable shows.

Then in Talk Nerdy to Me, a live action Static Shock is on the way, Tremors 5 is happening, Halloween Free Comic book day is this weekend, plus plenty of videos and more.

It’s a video heavy episode, so we apologize in advance.

Be sure to subscribe to us in iTunes, and give us a review. Comment here to show us you care! And by all means, feel free to donate to us!

“My Geek Confessions – Watching Bad Movies, So You Don’t Have To!”

  • It wouldn’t be a proper Geek news site without starting off with the biggest story of the week, with Marvel revealing (partly by having their hand forced because of leaks) the first trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron.
  • Cinefix has a rundown of the entire Halloween franchise in two minutes. If you don’t like watching all the terrible incarnations of a horror franchise or just wonder how things are related, this is a good one to check out. Also Paul Rudd, who knew?!
  • This comedy short “The Charming Mr. Hitler” is from a new series called “The Britishes” airing on DirecTV. It’s made by the same people who make the well done CollegeHumor videos we feature, and this is way funnier than it should be considering the topic.
  • The Hunger Games is releasing a new series of “propaganda” YouTube shorts that highlight the different focuses of each District of Panem. The series seems to be a collaboration between various YouTube channels and The Hunger Games, so each one is on a different channel. Personally I think it’s a great idea and a helpful worldbuilding technique that I think could have been used long ago to help those who haven’t read the books. You can follow this link to sign up for more updates. I’ve included the first video that’s made by the Threadbanger channel.
  • Barely Political’s Key of Awesome version of the Monster Mash introduces new horror monsters and things go terribly wrong.
  • IKEA Singapore does a Shining parody that will make you ever regret wanting to be left in an IKEA overnight.
  • This is the second Stein;Gate/IBM team up, now with subtitles!
  • The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror 25 had some interesting cameos, including versions of the Simpsons from various anime, Adventure Times, and many more. Tell us which ones you see in the comments.
  • Last but not least, an Honest Trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past.
