Welcome to our episode for January 10, 2014!
We’re back with a new episode as the news starts to pick up. Sandra Bullock practically sweeps the People’s Choice Awards, Ke$ha has an eating disorder, and Paul Blart: Mall Cop is getting a sequel. In TV news we get premiere dates as well as a few series pickups from pilots long thought passed up.
For talk Nerdy to Me, we have possible signs that the Marvel “Agent Carter” series is closer to being a reality, Japan has Mountain Dew flavored Cheetos, and Michael Bay public speaking fail. Plus DC lies to themselves and others, Wonder Woman may be in trouble, and the Simpsons do a fitting tribute to Miyazaki. And Octopimp has a new update to 50% Off!

“My Geek Confessions – Watching Bad Movies, So You Don’t Have To!”
First up is a clip of Ellen DeGeneres dancing down the street with a bunch of people to serve as a trailer for her hosting the Oscars for 2014.
The Simpsons has really been kicking it into high gear lately with their awesome tributes to different materials and they have done it again. This time I assume it’s connected to the announced retirement of Hiyao Miyazaki. (Though I’ve heard rumors he’s coming out of retirement again) I have to say they have made some great blending of Simpsons and Ghibli.
We’re really excited for Muppets Most Wanted and while we wish they would go back to their parody trailer, this next spot is pretty great. It has the announcer giving reviews of the movie from random twitter accounts, including spelling errors and hashtags.
Here is a fun video complaining about how the cool Disney songs always end up really high and out of people’s range. I can testify that it’s not just for women, but this is true for the few male Disney songs as well.
We’ve missed out on the two newest YouTube Comment Reconstructions, so we’re rectifying that now! My favorite is #5 with someone confusing Nelson Mandela with Morgan Freeman.
And after we featured Nagisa’s Christmas Carols last episode, 50% Off is back again with a new full episode. This time we finally have the appearance of Rei. Octopimp has done a great job with this abridged series so be sure you check it out!
