Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Star Wars: The Force AwakensBe aware that the link goes the DVD version of Star Wars: The Force Awakens because Amazon won’t let me link directly to the Blu-ray. – Star Wars: The Force Awakens aka Star Wars: Episode VII is finally upon us! A defecting Stormtrooper who served the New Order named Finn meets a waiting scavenger, Rey, on a desert planet (who may be more than what she seems) and join the droid BB-8 on its mission to deliver part of map to The Resistance that may give the whereabouts to the missing Luke Skywalker. Along the way they join forces with Han Solo and Chewbacca as they attempt to evade the New Order and return to the Resistance. We liked Star Wars: The Force Awakens but were disappointed on how similar it was to the first Star Wars that made the movie very predictable. Stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Max von Sydow. Rated PG-13.

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam: Part 2 Collection – The continuation of the Blu-ray release of Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, one of the series that takes place after the original Mobile Suit Gundam in the main timeline. Not Rated.

Parasyte - The Maxim Collection 1

Parasyte – The Maxim Collection 1 – Parasyte is finally ending on Toonami and now the first half of the season is available to purchase. Parasyte is based on the famous manga of the same name, and the anime series has updated several aspects of the manga to modernize the setting. In Parasyte, Shinichi is infected in the middle of the night by an alien life-form but is able to stop it’s spread to his brain, trapping it in his right hand. This leaves him with the unique ability of having his mind intact while also having his right hand being host to the self-aware life-form Migi. Together they fight other deadly parasites that have completely taken over their hosts and are killing other humans to feed, all while trying to lead the life of an ordinary teenager. This set features episodes 1-12 of both the sub and the dub that aired on Toonami. There is also a box set edition that comes with some nice extras as well. Not Rated.

Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie

Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie – Despite the very confusing title, Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie is actually a continuation of the Ghost in the Shell: Arise prequel series. The movie takes place after the series and wraps up some of the burning questions from the series. It also is the first Ghost in the Shell movie since 2006’s Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex – Solid State Society. Not Rated.

Lupin the 3rd: Jigen's Gravestone

Lupin the 3rd: Jigen’s Gravestone – This is a “continuation spin-off” of the Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine TV series and is the first English dub produced by Discotek Media. Sadly it appears to only be in stereo but I still consider that a step up from what they usually provide. Not Rated.

Video Games

Quantum Break

Quantum Break – Finally a game worth mentioning is out. Quantum Break is a new Xbox One exclusive that is a little unique from anything done before. The game is a mixture between gaming and television with the video game characters directly modeled after their actors. Due to a time travel experiment gone wrong, time is broken and leaves the hero and antagonist as with the ability to control time, and sometimes time will stop all together for those without time travel powers. The other interesting thing about this game is that it features different scenarios that will then change the plot of the game and also will include live action episodes that continue the story and are about 20 minutes long each. Sadly those aren’t included directly on the disc and must be streamed so this requires an internet connection but the episodes are exclusive to inside the game. Available for Xbox One, and technically PC though the PC version must be purchased directly from the Windows Store. Rated M for Mature.
