New Releases for April 10, 2012

Again kind of a lackluster week as far as mainstream releases, but a few decent ones in the anime world.

[amazon_link id=”B0059XTUXQ” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]The Iron Lady (Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy)[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B0059XTUXQ” target=”_blank” ]The Iron Lady[/amazon_link] – Meryl Streep plays Margaret Thatcher in an interesting biopic of the only female Prime Minister. Meryl Streep won the Academy Award for Best Actress for the role, which also won Best Makeup for making Meryl look exactly like Margaret Thatcher. Stars Meryl Streep and Jim Broadbent. Rated PG-13.

[amazon_link id=”B0073U2F2Q” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]The Darkest Hour (Blu-ray)[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B0073U2F2Q” target=”_blank” ]The Darkest Hour[/amazon_link] – Aliens attack Moscow and a group of people fight to survive. Features mainly no name actors and focuses more on effects which usually isn’t a good thing. Stars Emilie Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby, and Max Minghella. Rated PG-13.

[amazon_link id=”B006XEH7EO” target=”_blank” ]A Trip to the Moon[/amazon_link] – If you’ve seen Hugo, you can finally see the entire film by George Melies fully restored and in color. If you are a fan of film history this is a movie that you must buy. Rated G. (Though this was released originally before ratings existed.)

[amazon_link id=”B006Z7Z3KY” target=”_blank” ]Dark Shadows: The Complete Original Series[/amazon_link] – The rush to capitalize on the new Tim Burton movie continues with the release of the entire original series. Along with this complete collection, many of the episodes are available individually. Unfortunately, because of the hype this collection is very overpriced. Not Rated.

[amazon_link id=”B006TBYC76″ target=”_blank” ]Night Gallery: Season Three[/amazon_link] – The last season of the Rod Serling’s post-Twilight Zone series. Very similar to Twilight Zone, so if you like that series you’ll probably like this one as well. Not Rated.

[amazon_link id=”B006VC3L9S” target=”_blank” ]Laverne & Shirley: The Fifth Season[/amazon_link] – 4- disc set of one of the Happy Days spin-offs. Apparently considered one of the best seasons of the series. Not Rated.

[amazon_link id=”B006XDU7Y2″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Infinite Stratos Complete Collection [Blu-ray][/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B0071LEJDK” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Sekirei: Complete Series (Blu-ray/DVD Combo)[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B0071LEJDK” target=”_blank” ]Sekirei: Complete Series[/amazon_link] – A series released by Funimation, this series sounds like it is mainly fanservice. Apparently it also is a slight supernatural based series. Not Rated.

The show is EXTREMELY slap stick but has its moments. Bobobo uses his hair (and nose hair) to save and protect the world. Not Rated.

[amazon_link id=”B006UTDGDS” target=”_blank” ]Squid Girl: Season 1 Complete Collection[/amazon_link] – A series by MediaBlasters, Squid Girl is a new series about Squid Girl trying to take over the world. Supposedly is a comedy but I haven’t watched it so I can’t say for sure. Not Rated.
