New Releases for April 14, 2015

The Babadook

The Babadook – The Australian horror film that’s considered one of the best in recent memory about a mysterious creature from a storybook that haunts someone forever once they are made aware of its existence that affects a mother and son. Essie Davis, Noah Wiseman, Daniel Henshall, Hayley McElhinney, Barbara West, and Ben Winspear. Not Rated.

Big Eyes

Big Eyes – Big Eyes is the newest film from Tim Burton and amazingly is biographical drama based on a true story though you wouldn’t know it from the trailer or anything about the movie. The movie follows the story of Margaret Keane in the 1950s as her husband takes credit for her paintings of big eyed people. He takes credit for all her paintings and becomes famous, making a fortune off of her work but claiming it was his to the general public. Once Margaret tries to make known that she was the creator of the paintings, the battle ends up in a tense trial to prove authorship. Now try to get all of that from the trailer. Stars Amy Adams, Christoph Waltz, Danny Huston, Jon Polito, Krysten Ritter, Jason Schwartzman, and Terence Stamp. Rated PG-13.

Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death

Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death – The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death is the sequel to the horror film Woman in Black starring Daniel Radcliffe but honestly has very little to do with the previous film. It’s set in an orphanage 50 years after the first movie and kids start to act strangely then disappear one by one. However this is being released as the only release in the first week of January so it’s not a good sign on the quality of this movie. Stars Phoebe Fox, Jeremy Irvine, Helen McCrory, Adrian Rawlins, Leanne Best, and Ned Dennehy. Rated PG-13.

Metal Hurlant Chronicles: The Complete Series

Metal Hurlant Chronicles: The Complete Series – A 2012 French (but made in English) anthology series where the cast and characters change every episode. The series is based on a comic magazine series, the series was picked up by Syfy in 2014. Not Rated.

Batman vs. Robin

Batman vs. Robin – Batman vs Robin is the DC Animated version of the Court of Owls arc in Batman, however it looks like it’s only vaguely similar to the arc since Robin wasn’t involved with the Court of Owls and the history of Gotham. Rated PG-13.

Teen Titans Go!: Appetite For Disruption: Season Two Part One

Teen Titans Go!: Appetite For Disruption: Season Two Part One – 26 half-length episodes of part one of season two of the Cartoon Network series with the much more comedy focused version of the Teen Titans. Not Rated.
