New Releases for April 17, 2012

[amazon_link id=”B004EPYZV2″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo +Digital Copy)[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B004EPYZV2″ target=”_blank” ]Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol[/amazon_link] – Probably the best release of the week. Tom Cruise returns in the next installment of the Mission Impossible franchise. This time it’s directed by Brad Bird in his first live action film after directing The Iron Giant, and The Incredibles. The IMF is shut down and Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and the rest of the gang are on the run as a mysterious man is trying to use nuclear launch codes. I think that this movie is actually the strongest in the franchise and has a great sense of pacing and humor to balance it out. Stars Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, and Paula Patton. Directed by Brad Bird. Rated PG-13.

[amazon_link id=”B006OB3K56″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Shame (Blu-ray/ DVD + Digital Copy)[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B006OB3K56″ target=”_blank” ]Shame[/amazon_link] – The other high profile release of this week is probably this Michael Fassbender movie. He stars as Brandon, a New York business man. The movie is supposed to be about his sex addiction, but the movie itself is hard to recommend because of it’s rating. Stars Michael Fassbender, Carey Mulligan, James Badge Dale, Lucy Walters, and Mari-Ange Ramirez. Rated NC-17.

[amazon_link id=”B005SH65UO” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Frozen Planet: The Complete Series (David Attenborough-Narrated Version) [Blu-ray][/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B005SH65UO” target=”_blank” ]Frozen Planet: The Complete Series [/amazon_link]- By the same group that made Planet Earth, BBC brings this documentary about the Arctic and Antarctic and the wildlife found there. The series is narrated by David Attenborough as well so if you liked the other breathtaking scenary as the others, this will probably enjoy this new production. Not Rated.

[amazon_link id=”B007549YM4″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]The Divide [Blu-ray/DVD Combo][/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B007549YM4″ target=”_blank” ]The Divide[/amazon_link] – Nine strangers have holed up in their apartment complex’s bunker as the rest of New York City is rained down on my nuclear warheads. I have heard some positive buzz around this title, but that’s all. Stars Lauren German, Michael Biehn, Milo Ventimiglia, Rosanna Arquette, and Courtney B. Vance. Not Rated.

[amazon_link id=”B004EPZ0B6″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]IMAX: Born to Be Wild (Blu-ray 3D / DVD / UltraViolet Digital Copy Combo Pack)[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B004EPZ0B6″ target=”_blank” ]Born to be Wild 3D[/amazon_link] – Apparently this is the week of nature documentaries, perhaps to capitalize on the new Disney Nature documentary coming out in a couple weeks. This one is an IMAX production that is narrated by Morgan Freeman and is about endangered species and the humans that they to take car of them. I don’t usually recommend 3D titles, but IMAX usually has better than anyone elses. Not Rated.

[amazon_link id=”B004UXVFMA” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Treme: The Complete Second Season [Blu-ray][/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B004UXVFMA” target=”_blank” ]Treme: The Complete Second Season[/amazon_link] – The second season of the HBO series that I admit I’ve heard nothing about. This season takes place about 14 months after Hurricane Katrina. Not Rated.

[amazon_link id=”B00005JO4F” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Eight Is Enough: The Complete First Season[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B00005JO4F” target=”_blank” ]Eight is Enough: The Complete First Season[/amazon_link] – Surprisingly this well known TV series is just barely getting a DVD release. For any old schoolers, this is may be one that you’ve been waiting for. Stars Dick Van Patten. Not Rated.

[amazon_link id=”B0053O8A32″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]American Dad!: Volume Seven[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B0053O8A32″ target=”_blank” ]American Dad: Volume 7[/amazon_link] – Just to make things confusing this seems to be the entire 6th season of the series, on the 7th volume. Comes with 19 episodes of one of the other Seth MacFarlane animated comedies. Not Rated.

[amazon_link id=”B00775R45A” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Bob's Burgers: Season 1[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B006PA188C” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Ben 10: Ultimate Alien Ultimate Ending[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B006PA188C” target=”_blank” ]Ben 10: Ultimate Alien Ultimate Ending[/amazon_link] – One of my favorite cartoon series of all time ends in the last disc. However this isn’t the end of the franchise. A new series is already in production, but the character designs are very different, so it will be a shock. But Ben 10: Alien Force and Ben 10: Ultimate Alien will have always solidified Yuri Lowenthal, Ashley Johnson, and Greg Cipes as some of my favorite voice actors of all time. Not Rated.

[amazon_link id=”B006UKX72C” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]The Super Hero Squad Show: The Infinity Gauntlet Vol. 3[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B006UKX72C” target=”_blank” ]The Super Hero Squad Show: The Infinity Gauntlet Vol. 3 [/amazon_link]- A comedic side to the Marvel Franchise, the series features super deformed versions of the Marvel Superheroes and is very funny. Features many great voice actors with Tom Kenny as Iron Man, Travis Willingham as the Hulk and Thor, and Steve Blum as Wolverine. The show also regularly features Stan Lee as the Mayor. Not Rated.

[amazon_link id=”B006PA0WF2″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Young Justice: Season One - Volumes 1, 2 & 3[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B006PA0WF2″ target=”_blank” ]Young Justice: Season One – Volumes 1, 2 & 3[/amazon_link] – An excellent series that Cartoon Network has introduced as part of its DC block, this release brings the entire first season in the most annoying way possible. This is just the individual volumes together in one pack, but thankfully at a decent discount. For some reason this has been available at Wal-Mart for a couple weeks now. Highly recommended if you’ve liked the Justice League.  Not Rated.

[amazon_link id=”B0071LEN3Q” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]The Legend of the Legendary Heroes: Part One (Limited Edition Blu-ray/DVD Combo)[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B006MWA8WA” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Heaven's Lost Property: Forte - Complete Season 2 (Limited Edition)[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B006MWA8WA” target=”_blank” ]Heaven’s Lost Property: Forte – Complete Season 2[/amazon_link] – Yet Another Funimation release, this series is about Tomoki and his life after an android named Ikaros falls from the sky and starts to call him master. Then apparently things go from bad to worse. Not Rated.

Video Games

Finally some decent releases to write about.

[amazon_link id=”B006GHA8EE” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings Enhanced Edition[/amazon_link]
