DVD/Blu-Ray

Movies

Big Hero 6 (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD)

Big Hero 6 – Big Hero 6 is the first real crossover between Disney and Marvel. Big Hero 6 is based on the comic series of the same name, but instead of being set in Japan it’s been set in the city of San Fransokyo (a hybrid of real life San Francisco with Tokyo and Japanese influences). Hiro Hamada is a tech and robotics genius who discovers his brother’s inflated health based robot creation, Baymax. Together with his brother’s high-tech friends, they come together to defeat the evil plaguing San Fransokyo as a way to overcome the loss of his brother in a terrible accident. Stars Ryan Potter, Scott Adsit, Jamie Chung, Damon Wayans, Jr., Génesis Rodríguez, T. J. Miller, Daniel Henney, and Maya Rudolph. Rated PG.

Horrible Bosses 2 (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD UltraViolet Combo Pack)

Horrible Bosses 2 – The guys from Horrible Bosses decide to start their own business but are thwarted when an investor steals their idea. Desperate they decide to kidnap the investor’s son for ransom and regain their company, but of course things don’t go as planned. Plus all the bosses from the first movie return. Stars Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, and Chris Pine. Rated R.

Whiplash [Blu-ray]

Whiplash – A young drummer has to deal with an abusive teacher on his way to fulfill his dream of becoming a Jazz musician. This is notable as this is the film that J.K. Simmons just won an Academy Award for. Stars J.K. Simmons and Miles Teller. Rated R.

TV

Sons of Anarchy: Season 7 [Blu-ray]

Sons of Anarchy: Season 7  – The final season of the FX motorcycle gang series. Not Rated.

Cartoon/Anime

Tiger & Bunny The Movie - The Rising Combo Pack (Blu-ray + DVD)

Tiger & Bunny The Movie – The Rising – Krista’s already covered this movie in great detail in her review of the second Tiger & Bunny movie, but it’s finally available from Viz in a dub that we’ve eagerly been waiting for a long time. I’m still hoping for a second series or something but this is definitely a movie not to miss if you’re a fan of the anime. If you’ve not seen Tiger and Bunny, GO SEE IT NOW. Not Rated.

Space Brothers: Collection 1 [Blu-ray]

Space Brothers: Collection 1 – A sub only release from Sentai Filmworks. After seeing a UFO as kids, two brothers in the future aim to become astronauts in space with one being more successful than the other. Not Rated.

Samurai Troopers Complete Ova

Samurai Troopers – Complete OVA – Though here as “Legendary Armor Samurai Troopers,” this series probably more well-known as “Ronin Warriors.” This is a rescue license from Discotek and I believe includes the dub that was produced previously. Not Rated.

Flame of Recca Complete TV Series

Flame of Recca – Complete TV Series – Surprisingly another rescue license from Discotek, this one a bit surprising since it was licensed and dubbed originally from Viz Anime and this is a straight reissue. Not Rated.

Kill la Kill Vol 4 Blu-ray cover

Kill la Kill DVD/Blu-ray 4 – Even though Kill la Kill has just started to air on Toonami, the dub is still being released on video with episodes 15 – 19. The series will finally be finished just barely before the dub ends on Toonami. Not Rated.

Video Games

Dragon Ball Xenoverse - PlayStation 4

Dragon Ball Xenoverse – The video game drought is over with a very interesting Dragon Ball video game release in Xenoverse. While continuing to let you fight many of the major battles from Dragon Ball lore, this game also lets you design your own character to be able to fight and even be able to select which voice you would like to use. We know that both Micah Solusod and Clifford Chapin are just some of the voices that you can select. Available on PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. Rated T for Teen.
