New Releases for July 31, 2012

[amazon_link id=”B0083H6B6E” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Detention [Blu-ray][/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B0083H6B6E” target=”_blank” ]Detention[/amazon_link] – This is the other Josh Hutcherson movie that came out this year, but was only in limited release. Strangely it’s a horror-comedy (does that make it a horrmedy?) where people are getting killed by the mysterious Cinderhella. Stars Josh Hutcherson, Shanley Caswell, Spencer Locke, Dane Cook, and Brooke Haven. Rated R.

[amazon_link id=”B00898M1MA” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]LOL [Blu-ray][/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B00898M1MA” target=”_blank” ]LOL[/amazon_link] – I don’t know if this is really a comedy or not since the title and the cover I think are one of the worst mispairings ever. But this movie was never really a wide release, but has Miley Cyrus using the internet in high school or something. If you don’t believe me look at the description on Amazon. Stars Miley Cyrus, Demi Moore, Ashley Greene, Douglas Booth, and Thomas Jane. Rated PG-13.

[amazon_link id=”B00718NPB0″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ] [Blu-ray][/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B00718NPB0″ target=”_blank” ][/amazon_link] – For some reason this movie is coming out here in the United States two years too late. It was released in the United Kingdom in 2010. It has four girls that somehow get involved with a jewelry heist. And has Mikey from Doctor Who and a guy named Bashy. Stars Ophelia Lovibond, Emma Roberts, Tamsin Egerton, Adam Deacon, Bashy, Shanika Markland, and Noel Clarke. Rated R.

[amazon_link id=”B007RMQ4F4″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Mystery Science Theater 3000: XXIV[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B007RMQ4F4″ target=”_blank” ]Mystery Science Theater 3000: XXIV[/amazon_link] – I’m surprised this excellent riffing series (really probably one of the shows that started it all) is all available on DVD yet. But sure enough, here is another one to add to your collection. Not Rated.

[amazon_link id=”B0081FSMMO” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Hatfields & McCoys [Blu-ray][/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B0081FSMMO” target=”_blank” ]Hatfields & McCoys[/amazon_link] – The real version of the series is now available, hot off of it’s many many Emmy nominations. The History Channel’s first (I believe) completely dramatized production has done very well, and will probably be the first of many. Stars Kevin Costner, Bill Paxton, Matt Barr, Tom Berenger, and Powers Boothe. Not Rated.

[amazon_link id=”B007ZR9HP0″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Melrose Place: The Seventh and Final Season, Vol. 1[/amazon_link] [amazon_link id=”B007ZR9HPA” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Melrose Place: The Seventh and Final Season, Vol. 2[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B007ZR9HP0″ target=”_blank” ]Melrose Place Seventh Season Volume 1[/amazon_link] and [amazon_link id=”B007ZR9HPA” target=”_blank” ]Volume 2[/amazon_link] – This release seems like a good way to confuse and piss off your customers. These two are both called the “Seventh and Final Season” but then come out in volume one and two on the SAME DAY. Why does your last season need to come out on two parts on the same day? Why not just make it one collection especially when you put “and Final” in your title. Just seems like it was a bad idea. Not Rated.

[amazon_link id=”B0083VOUFO” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Misfits Season One[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B0083VOUFO” target=”_blank” ]Misfits Season One[/amazon_link] – Internet favorite Misfits from the BBC is released in the United States just in time for it to start airing on LOGO. But it started to air in 2009 and lots of people have already pirated it, so way to jump on that broadcasters. Teens get superpowers thanks to a weird electrical storm. Not Rated.

[amazon_link id=”B00857E7J0″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Twinkle Toes: The Movie by Skechers[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B00857E7J0″ target=”_blank” ]Twinkle Toes: The Movie by Skechers[/amazon_link] – The annoying commercials come to life. All I can say is WHY!?!? Not Rated.

[amazon_link id=”B007RG8ZF2″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Young Justice: Dangerous Secrets[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B007RG8ZF2″ target=”_blank” ]Young Justice: Dangerous Secrets[/amazon_link] – The other HALF of season one of Young Justice. It looks like DC/Warner Brothers/Cartoon Network finally wised up and released the last 14 episodes in one set instead of the three single releases it took to get out the first half. This is how it should have been released from the very beginning, but hopefully this means that Cartoon Network is finally learning to release things like a normal company. The series is VERY good, and I highly recommend it to DC fans. Not Rated.

[amazon_link id=”B007I1Q4MM” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Magic School Bus: The Complete Series[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B007I1Q4MM” target=”_blank” ]Magic School Bus: The Complete Series[/amazon_link] – I have to admit this series has a soft spot in my heart and I’m glad to see the entire series released finally. However, along with the entire series, they also decided to release different collections of episodes as well. It might be for schools and such but I’m not sure. But be warned this is the ENTIRE series where the others are only collections. Not Rated.

[amazon_link id=”B007IKKSNY” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Marvel: Wolverine: Animated Series[/amazon_link][amazon_link id=”B007ILZAA4″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ] Marvel Anime: Blade – Complete Series[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B007IKKSNY” target=”_blank” ]Marvel: Wolverine: Animated Series [/amazon_link]and [amazon_link id=”B007ILZAA4″ target=”_blank” ]Marvel Anime: Blade – Complete Series[/amazon_link] – Both of the other Marvel Anime series are out this week, (Blade doesn’t have a picture cover for some reason so I combined them both) so you can pick them both up. Some people didn’t like them as much as others, so your mileage may vary. Both Not Rated.

[amazon_link id=”B007V9EAA4″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Strike Witches - Complete First Season (Blu-ray/DVD Combo)[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B007V9EAA4″ target=”_blank” ]Strike Witches – Complete First Season[/amazon_link] – The newest Funimation release that comes with a combo of DVD/Blu-Ray. The series is originally from 2008, but is set in a weird 1944. Strangely it has a mix of fan service, cat eared girls, guns, and mechas. Not Rated.

[amazon_link id=”B007V2LN74″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Hatsukoi Limited Complete Collection[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B007V2LN74″ target=”_blank” ]Hatsukoi Limited Complete Collection[/amazon_link] – A sub only release from Section 23, that looks to be a middle school comedy, when the main character is in 8th grade, all the girls start falling for him. Personally I think the price of this is too high for a sub only release but that’s just me. Not Rated.

Video Games

For the first time in a while, we actually have some games to report on.

[amazon_link id=”B006OI3CTS” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B006OI3CTS” target=”_blank” ]Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance[/amazon_link] – The next installment of the Kingdom Hearts saga that isn’t Kingdom Hearts III. It’s only available on the 3DS which is a bummer (well to me anyway) but supposedly still important to the overall story. The graphics so far actually look pretty similar to what they would on the PS2, so if you’re a fan of the series you’ll probably enjoy it. Rated E for Everybody.

[amazon_link id=”B006YMG92G” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B006YMG92G” target=”_blank” ]Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time[/amazon_link] – A PSP JRPG that apparently has some PS2 verison of the game previously or at least of the series. Rated T for Teen.

[amazon_link id=”B005OSFUDK” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Myst[/amazon_link]

[amazon_link id=”B005OSFUDK” target=”_blank” ]Myst[/amazon_link] – A re-release of the classic game now for the 3DS and in 3D. The game is one of the classics and the series is one of my favorites. The game itself has been ported from PC numerous times, and is also available on iOS. My only complaint is that they haven’t ported over the sequel games especially Riven. Rated E for Everyone.
