Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip – Surprising everyone (or at least us) The Road Chip is actually the fourth live-action Alvin and the Chipmunks movie. Through a sequence of unfortunate misunderstandings, the Chipmunks think that their adopted father Dave will propose to his doctor girlfriend Samantha and in the process, leave them behind. They join with their potential step-brother Miles in a cross-country road trip to Miami to stop the proposal before it’s too late. Stars Jason Lee, Tony Hale, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Josh Green, Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler, Jesse McCartney, Kaley Cuoco, Anna Faris, and Christina Applegate. Directed by Walt Becker. Rated PG.
Sisters – Two dysfunctional sisters; Maura, a recent divorcee with trouble taking risks and Kate, an unstable, partying single mother, both learn that their parents have sold their childhood home without their knowledge. Instead of cleaning out their rooms like their parents asked, they decide to relive and fulfill their high school glory days by inviting all their old friends to a drug and booze filled party with the goal of Maura getting laid and having the party she never got to have and Kate being the party mom. As the party continues and spirals out of control, the house and their family may not survive. Stars Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Ike Barinholtz, Dianne Wiest, James Brolin, John Cena, Madison Davenport, John Leguizamo, Bobby Moynihan, Brian d’Arcy James, Chris Parnell, Greta Lee, and Samantha Bee. Directed by Jason Moore. Rated R.
The Big Short – The movie that I forgot to mention was coming out. A movie based off of the book “The Big Short” about how a group of people bet on subprime mortgages defaulting leading into the Recession and housing bubble bursting. Rated R.
Dinotopia: The Complete TV Series – The sequel TV series to the very fun Dinotopia miniseries that only ran for one season. It was available before but has been out of print. Not Rated.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Half-Shell Heroes: Blast to the Past – A very strange Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated special apparently pretty much designed to sell the Playmate Half-Shell Heroes action figure line. The Turtles go back in time to the Cretaceous Period and have to deal with dinosaurs and aliens plus their regular villains that show up. The special was an hour-long on TV but without commercials it’s only about 43 minutes. Not Rated.
C3:CubexCursedxCurious – The Complete Series – A strange release from Funimation in that this is a sub only series. A young teenage boy is resistant to curses and his father always sends him cursed objects to deal with. One night, he receives a black box that somehow turns into a girl and he has to help break her curse and deal with all the other cursed objects. Originally a Light Novel series, the series is actually considered fanservice comedy series. So take that as you will. Not Rated.
When They Cry: Season 1 – A dubbed release from Sentai Filmworks. The famous murder mystery/paranormal series that’s been made into games, manga, anime, and more about a town with unsolved murders, a dam that flooded the old town and a cute girl trying to murder the new kid. Season 1 includes 6 different arcs for 26 episodes. Not Rated.
