Dirty Grandpa – Though you wouldn’t believe it from the trailer or really from being played by Zac Efron but he plays an uptight lawyer, Jason Kelly, about to get married to the boss’s daughter, seemingly destined for a terrible and boring life. His grandpa, played by Robert DeNiro, shortly after the funeral of Jason’s grandmother, tricks Jason to take him down to Daytona Beach for Spring Break and exposes Jason to wild parties, frat houses, and the usual things that college aged behavior in an effort to let loose once again before he dies and help his grandson do the same before he ends up in a terrible marriage. But good luck trying to get any of that from any of the trailers for the movie. Stars Robert De Niro, Zac Efron, Aubrey Plaza, Zoey Deutch, Julianne Hough, and Dermot Mulroney. Rated R.
Orange Is The New Black: Season 3 – The third season of the hit Netflix original series. Not Rated.
Ninja Sentai Kakuranger: The Complete Series – Ninja Sentai Kakuranger is probably best known for being the basis of the third season of Power Rangers. Though in Japan, this was the 18th(!) season of Super Sentai. Not Rated.
Cop Rock: The Complete Series – I had no idea that this was a thing that existed. Cop Rock apparently was 1990 Police Procedural but as a musical. The reason we’ve never heard of Cop Rock before is because it’s rated as one of the worst TV shows of all time! Not Rated.
Assassination Classroom: Season 1, Part One – A fun anime about a tentacled teacher that teaches the flunky class to get better grades and assassination techniques so they can kill him before the end of the school year or he’ll destroy the world. We’ve really liked the series, which has a great cast, and is definitely worth watching the dub for.
Black Butler: Book of Murder OVA – The next set of Black Butler! We’ve looked forward to this set since the dub of Book of Circus was released back in April. This OVA series continues on with the next arc of the Black Butler manga called “Book of Murder” where the Queen’s guest is found murdered and Ciel and Sebastian team up with the visiting Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (author of Sherlock Holmes) to solve murder before it’s too late. Not Rated.
Akame Ga Kill: Part 2 – The second half of Akame Ga Kill, now after the entire series has finished airing on Toonami. The adventures for the remaining members of Night Raid continues as they fight the government as everyone acts under the slightest of pretenses. Sadly the series seems to be more a setup to have lots of epic fights then anything else though it does appear that towards the end that series does differ in the anime from how it does in the manga. Not Rated.
Homefront: The Revolution – A sequel to 2011’s Homefront about an alternate future where North Korea has become an empire and invades the United States, while the civilians and remaining military struggle to maintain resistance. Word of caution, while this game is a sequel to Homefront, Homefront: The Revolution is technically developed by a completely different studio so some changes should be expected. Available for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and even supposedly Linux! Rated M for Mature.
Missed from last week released May 13th
Doom – How could I pass up the new version of Doom developed by the local game company id Software in Richardson, Texas! Available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Rated M for Mature.
