Cartoon/Anime

The Wind Rises (2-Disc Blu-ray +DVD Combo Pack)

The Wind Rises – The Wind Rises is (supposedly) the last film from the legendary director Hayao Miyazaki. Slightly based on the real life of Jiro Horikoshi, he was too near-sighted to be a pilot and inspired by the designs of the Italian aeronautic designer Caproni, so he joins an engineering company to design some of the most important planes using by the Japanese during World War II. But being a Studio Ghibi/Miyazaki film, the film is much more fanciful and over the top then the name would imply. We liked this movie quite a bit though it’s definitely not Miyazaki’s strongest work. Read our review here.  Stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Martin Short, Werner Herzog, William H. Macy, Darren Criss, Mae Whitman, Mandy Patinkin, Jennifer Grey, Stanley Tucci, Elijah Wood, Ronan Farrow, and Zach Callison. Rated PG-13.

Video Games

Dragon Age Inquisition - Xbox One Deluxe Edition

Dragon Age Inquisition – The third Dragon Age game that continues the games in same continent with a different protagonist. Bioware says that you’re able to continue where you left off with the world state from the previous games, but that’s not exactly true. There is no direct way to import your data from the last games even if played on the same console. You have to use something called Dragon Age Keep and answer questions in order to make your world the way that you had it and then sync to Bioware’s servers. So unless you’re on broadband, you’re stuck on the default world state. Looks like Bioware didn’t think things through once again (see Mass Effect 3). Available for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. Rated M for Mature.

Far Cry 4 - PlayStation 4

Far Cry 4 – The fourth installment in the Far Cry series, a first-person shooter action adventure game. This time the game takes places in the mountainous terrain of the country of Kyrat, based on Nepal. Available for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. Rated M for Mature.

Little Big Planet 3 Launch Edition - PlayStation 4

Little Big Planet 3 – The next installment of the bean bag puppet inspired game franchise of Little Big Planet. Available PS3 and PS4. Rated E for Everyone.

Assassin's Creed Rogue- Xbox 360

Assassin’s Creed Rogue – While I don’t know about the quality of the game but somehow someone thought that coming out with a game that was a bridge between Assassin’s Creed III and Assassin’s Creed IV the week after Assassin’s Creed: Unity (aka Assassin’s Creed 5) came out was a bright idea. Available for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. Rated M for Mature.

Adventure Time: The Secret of the Nameless Kingdom - PlayStation 3

Adventure Time: The Secret of the Nameless Kingdom – The newest Adventure Time game and by a different studio then the previous ones. Available for PS3, Xbox 360, and 3DS. Rated E for Everyone 10 and Up.
