New Releases for September 15, 2015

Cinderella – Disney brings another live-action adaptation of a previous animated property with Cinderella. There are some changes as meeting the prince before the transformation, but so far it looks like it has plenty of nods to the original. I’m just hoping that this adaptation remains closer to the cartoon then the terrible Maleficent of last year, and so far signs point to yes. Also if you’re a Frozen fan, there is a Frozen short premiering right before the film that is also sure to bring in extra crowds. Stars Lily James, Richard Madden, Cate Blanchett, Stellan Skarsgård, Holliday Grainger, Derek Jacobi, and Helena Bonham Carter. Rated PG.

Furious 7

Furious 7 – Furious 7 is the seventh film in the Fast & The Furious franchise. Probably most well-known for being the last movie with Paul Walker before his death, the film addresses this by having the character be retired instead of killed. Supposedly they accomplished this through the use of CGI (though there were reports of this being limited), stand-ins, and the use of Paul Walker’s brothers to stand in for him for his final scenes. In this latest movie, after supposedly leaving the mercenary life, the Toretto gang is being targeted by the brother of a terrorist that they killed in the last movie and is trying to take the whole gang down right after they were able to regain their freedom and return to the United States. Stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Bridges, Lucas Black, Jason Statham, and Kurt Russell. Rated PG-13.

Disneynature: Monkey Kingdom

Disneynature: Monkey Kingdom– The newest movie from DisneyNature and this time about toque macaque monkeys. Narrated by Tina Fey. Rated G.

Sleepy Hollow: Season 2

Sleepy Hollow: Season 2 – The second season of the FOX supernatural drama retelling of the “Legend of Sleepy Hollow” story with Ichabod Crane and Abbie Mills fighting the Headless Horseman and the forces of darkness to prevent the apocalypse. The second season had 18 episodes instead of season one’s 13 and because of it, seemed like the storylines got a little out of control and wasn’t as fun as the first season. Supposedly the creators have learned from their mistakes and are trying to rein things in for the third season even though there is another 18 episode season order. Not Rated.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Season 2

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Season 2 – Will be released on September 18, 2015 – While the first season was not, the second season of Agents of SHIELD is being billed for now as an Amazon exclusive. We really enjoyed the second season, as the team has to deal with another version of SHIELD, the remnants of HYDRA, and the rise of The Inhumans along with Skye’s transformation and new-found powers. Not Rated.

Marvel's Agent Carter: Season 1

Marvel’s Agent Carter: Season 1 – Will be released on September 18, 2015 – The big surprise of last season, despite it’s smaller episode count was Agent Carter, which was fantastic! It looks like this is still being billed as an Amazon exclusive as well. The first season has Peggy Carter, post Captain America, trying to clear Howard Stark’s name while keeping it under wraps at her day job at the SSR. We’re definitely looking forward to the second season and hope it’s just as good as the first. Not Rated.

Big Bang Theory: Season 8

Big Bang Theory: Season 8 – The eighth season of extremely popular CBS sitcom that likes to make fun of nerds but does have a ton of nerd cameos. Not Rated.

Aquarius: The Complete First Season

Aquarius: The Complete First Season – The first season of the NBC drama that stars David Duchovny as a homicide detective in last 1960s trying to investigate the Charles Manson murders. This series had it’s release be a little weird as it made the entire series available online before the series aired Netflix style to allow for binge watching, then airing the series as normal on broadcast television. Not Rated.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation - The Final Season

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation – The Final Season – The 15th and last season of the original CSI series, though CSI: Cyber continues and there is a final CSI movie planned before Ted Danson’s character, D.B. Russell, before he goes off and joins the cyber team. Not Rated.

CSI: Cyber: Season 1

CSI: Cyber: Season 1 – The first season of the newest CSI spin-off about cyber crimes, best known for getting wrong how the internet works and it’s well-known cast with Patricia Arquette, James Van Der Beek, Peter MacNicol, Shad Moss (aka rapper Bow Wow). Not Rated.

Clarence: Dust Buddies

Clarence – Volume 2: Dust Buddies – The second set of the Cartoon Network cartoon Clarence with 12 episodes. This is the second volume, even though you wouldn’t know from this title. Not Rated.

Comic Artist & His Assistants

Comic Artist & His Assistants – A subtitled only release from Sentai Filmworks about an extremely perverted mangaka who gets behind in his works, so he’s given attractive assistants as a way to keep him on task and inspired. Not Rated.

Tsukimonogatari: Yotsugi Doll – A sub only release from Aniplex of America that’s a Rightstuf exclusive. The first arc in the last season of the Monogatari series. Not Rated.

Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE! – Volume 2 with CD – The second volume of Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE! that we’re disappointed ended up not being dubbed and released in expensive volume format from Pony Canyon. This volume comes with episodes 5-8 plus a bonus CD and other extra if you feel that is worth the additional cost of only having 4 episodes. Not Rated.
